FAQs
Elmeck Solar Cable is manufactured in accordance with IS 17293:2020 — Solar DC Cables. Under the Quality Control Order on DC solar cables issued on 24 August 2023, DC solar cables sold in India must conform to IS 17293 and carry the BIS Standard Mark. Ask Elmeck for the current BIS licence details for the size you are buying.
It is used for the electrical interconnection of photovoltaic (PV) systems: between PV panels and modules, and from panels to string boxes and inverters. It suits residential and commercial rooftop solar, agricultural and other PV installations, indoors or outdoors, in fixed and free-hanging installations.
Elmeck Solar Cable is available in 2.5, 4, 6 and 10 sq mm, in black and in black with red lining. The technical datasheet on this page lists the insulation and sheath thickness, cable diameter, current rating and maximum conductor resistance for each size.
It depends on how the cable is installed. Per the Elmeck datasheet, 4 sq mm is rated at 52 A as a single cable free in air, 49 A as a single cable on a surface and 41 A for two loaded cables touching on a surface; 6 sq mm is rated at 66 A, 63 A and 53 A for the same conditions. Have a qualified installer size the cable for your system's current, run length and voltage drop.
